Porsche Driving Adventures

So Matt finally got me into the car to drive in a racing/drivers ed event! I only did one 360 so I must not have been pushing the car far enough!! :) The pictures that I took of MAtt were much more impressive but I have yet to upload the camera. More pics of Matt to come.....

Look here I am again

Let's hear it for science!! I am back at the blog as I wait for time to pass. But now the question is....what is it that I really have to say? Do you all really want to hear about my life as a graduate student? My good friend once said that research wasn't his cup of tea because he spent 2 days completing some mindless and tedious task in preparation for the main experiment, only to have the experiment really go to 'hell in a hand basket'. What did he do the next day??? Start the preparation all over again. Yes, my research is a very similar process. AND I think my mice are plotting to take over the world.

Where have I been!!!????

Oh my Gosh....where have I been?? Geez....

Well....mostly in the lab...I am a graduate student after all. In fact, now I am passing the time during a 30 minute incubation. I think I may have found something useful to do during the endless amount of time that I have just sitting and waiting. It is like watching water boil!

I have gone to a few conferences:

(Yes, that is the same suit)

My friends, Matt, and I went to Hueco Tanks to Boulder:

And Matt and I just got back from a Cruise! I don't have those pictures yet....but it was FUN!!

So, Matt is still called up for his Predator job and the AirTran thing is on hold until that Arizona National Guard lets him go. That is fine with him and I because he is home more and the job is good and stable.

I have about 3 semesters left to go and boy will it go by fast. I just hope data collection goes smoothly so that I can graduate as planned!!

I make no promises for about when I get back on here....but maybe it won't be so long next time!! :)

That's all folks

The V-Rod

Thanks to Jeff (very good friend, and dude farthest to the left), Matt now want's a Harley V-Rod. The day after we got back from Minneapolis, Matt drove to Tx for some interview training....and stayed with our good friend Jeff. Jeff is also a motorcycle enthusiast and has great taste in bikes! They rented a bike for Matt and off they went to drive up into the hill country of Texas. Matt rode the V-rod (that sweet looking bike on the far left) on the way home and now he wants one. I told him that was fine (cuz I don't really like sitting on the back of ours...so we really do need two) as long as we got a new house to go with the new bike because we need a bigger garage. He said he would work on that... :).

Minneapolis

The wedding on St. Patty's day!

Very festive, can't you tell? It was one big party weekend to celebrate friends, old times, and new times.

Matt's last day of vacation on the Air Force was the 9th, so that was cause for celebration too!!
I'm still waiting for the crazy and wild bachelorette photos too!! Stay tuned....I need the crazy lady on the left (in the picture on the left) to send them to me!!

If I can figure out how to get the video on my blog, I will but this will have to do for now....

Indian Rock

It was time for some fun with the Sisters....so out I went to CA for a visit. All us girls were under one roof and that was awesome!! Times can be hard, but when you have sisters like I have, nothing can ever be that bad! There are no pictures (evidence) to document that fun. BUT while I was there, I made a trip to Berkley's historical Indian Rock. The place where modern rock climbing was developed. It was awesome...Of course I got pictures of that. Actually met someone there who knew my climbing friends here it Tucson.....small world. Enjoy the pics.

Matt's Fini Flight

As you all may have noticed, I am a bit behind on my postings....probably because so much has happened in the past few months. No more snow.....just really cold days, Oh and Matt finally had his fini-flight and his last day of work. It was a cold day for his last flight but as you can tell, that didn't stop me from spraying him down with water. Apparently I got pretty into that!! :) That's me on the right with Matt in the middle.
From then on, it was just a matter of two weeks and he was on terminal leave (paid vacation). "Just as an update.....he does have a "part time" job lined up with the Air National Guard to fly their Predator, a remotely manned air craft. This job will be in Tucson, so no more moving for us (for now). It will be pretty full time until he gets another civilian job of some sort. He leaves for Vegas, for training (well at least some things never change during a time of change), in April or May for 3 months. Vegas Baby!!!!

Trip to the Range

After almost 10 years, I finally got to go on a trip to "the range". That is where all the air planes go to practice the bomb dropping and gun shooting. It is a 3 hour drive away or 20 min by plane, out to the middle of the Arizona nowhere. While we were there, a four ship of A-10s and a two ship of F-16s came in for practice.

The Target for the big Guns
Don't worry we were gone by the time the planes were rolling in... :)

After dropping a bomb....
Getting ready for another go
After the straif (big gun)...and some of the dust cleared
This dust cloud was from another Jet. Compare the two dust clouds. This one is tiny compared to the A-10 dust cloud...

Christmas Cats

I think I'll take a nap too....
deny, deny, deny
"What....I didn't do it!"

Sleepy Leira under the tree....

Bulldog Christmas Party

These are pictures from the squadron Christmas party. It was a fun time, a bit more casual than usual which I thought was nice. Not that I am anti-dressing up, but really, who can eat in a fancy outfit???

Lab Christmas Party Pictures

The lab Christmas party comes with a Secret Santa Exchange. I'm always wearing hats and scarfs (you would think that I lived in Boston instead of Tucson) so I got a hand made set. What do you think....America's Next Top Model????

History of the Ya-Ya (Not all could be present)

I couldn't find my oldest photo of our outrageous gatherings. That one is still in my scrapbook. Remember when Andrea's skirt stopped traffic??

Four years ago in San Antonio.....last year in Vegas.

The money it takes to get there?

The awesome photos we get, priceless (you know the one I mean).

PS....See Zoe, I clean up.....
So yes....I get to show up to work in what often looks like PJs (aka scrubs), or wear a lab coat to cover up my lack of ironing. But give me a reason, and I do dress up for a night on the town. Why have you never seen me dress up? Many of my friends may ask....What would I dress up for in a town where "Tucson Casual" is a something you put on invitations to let people know that jeans and Hawaiian shirts is considered dressy....

A Day at the Grand Canyon

New York

A quick Up-to-Date...

For some, it has been a while......so here is where we are at in our lives. I (Helena) am now a nurse, have been for about 4 years, but now I am in graduate school for my PhD (2nd year) at the University of Arizona College of Nursing. Some would say that I am a perpetual student....not so. I just found my true passion, nursing and then research, later in life after I had already finished one BS in Animal Science at Davis. Matt is just finishing up almost 10 years in the Air Force as an A-10 Pilot. His last flight will be on Feb. 1st and he will be a civilian in March. He is now Major Matt Morrison (As of the first of the year)....which has a ring to it. No job secured yet in the civilian world but stay tuned to the blog for more info on that! Check out our pictures for a look at what we do for fun, and travel.....
